The winners of Huddersfield SOUP № 6 are...
Glint and Keep It Real Youth Group
After rescheduling to make room for last week's World Cup Semi-final, we had a great turn-out for our sixth Huddersfield SOUP. Once again Zephyr Bar and Kitchen prepared two delicious soups for us to enjoy and we enjoyed live music from the wonder Run The River. We also had a couple of SOUP firsts. To begin with our compere Rebecca Winwood bribed the audience with Jelly Babies to get them to listen to a 60 second promotion of a project she is working on at The Lawrence Batley Theatre. Then, when it came time to announce the winner we found we had a draw. The two projects sharing the SOUP micro-grant are Glint and Keep It Real Youth Group.
Glint provides Horse Assisted Development -- outdoor activities with horses and ponies that help people to identify and develop their skills and strengths. But when it rains their fields become muddy and unusable so they are fundraising to install an all-weather surface that will allow them continue their work.
Keep It Real Youth Group's project Taking Back The Streets aims to encourage and empower the young people of the DRAM Ward to participate in positive activities to reduce anti-social behaviour and gang participation.
Congratulations to them both!
